Rapport 409 Sq: - (The subject officers took off on the 26th of July 1944, to carry out operations over enemy territory. 2. At approximately 01.30 hours on the 27th July, S/L Jephson was reported as having shot down an enemy aircraft. Shortly after he reported being in difficulties and was going down, but he then again called and asked for a vector as his navigator was injured and could not abandon aircraft. All efforts to obtain further information were unavailing. 3. On moving to the Continent recently, information was sought and obtained from 419 R & S.U. at St. Gabriel. This information though vague, appears to fall in line with that already at hand, and is as follows. On the early morning of the 27th July, five aircraft were seen to come down in flames and was heard to crash about 2 miles away. The recovery party assumed that it was a Mosquito from the debris and the damage was seen to be very limited. The engines were buried too deeply for salvaging to be practical at the time. 4. 419 R & S.U. were in the throws of moving at the time contacted, and promised to search their files and forward any information applicable to the crash in question. 5. According to the Commanding Officer of the Unit, there were no signs of any remains lying about the wreckage..Original) - (Source: Ancestry Canada) - Traduction DC via Copilot): Les officiers concernés ont décollé le 26 juillet 1944 pour effectuer des opérations au-dessus du territoire ennemi. 2.
