Rapport descriptif: - (On 16 January 1945 1st Lt Robert E Carr was flying P-51D-15 Aircraft AAF sérial number 44-15528 on an operational mission. While the group was over the continent the bases in the United Kingdom became non-operational due to adverses weather conditions and the group was notified to land on the continent and spend the night, and Lt Carr landed at A-61 along with several of the other pilots. On 17 January 1945 at approximately 1315 hours Lt. Carr took off from A-61. to return to his home base. According to the flying control officer at A-61 se received a telephone call from the MP's at 1325 hours stating that an aircraft had crashed near St. Pierre. MP's and an ambulance were immediately dispatched and they found that the plane had crashed at Maisoncelle, St. Pierre, approximately 5 miles NE of A-61 and that "the pilot had been instantly killed and the plane a total wreck.Original) - (Source: AFHRA – Accident Report) - Traduction DC via Google Lens): Le 16 janvier 1945, le Lt Robert E. Carr pilotait un avion P-51D-15 portant le numéro de série AAF 44-15528 lors d'une mission opérationnelle. Alors que le groupe survolait le continent, les bases du Royaume-Uni devinrent non opérationnelles en raison de conditions météorologiques défavorables et le groupe fut averti d'atterrir sur le continent et d'y passer la nuit. Le lieutenant Carr atterrit à A-61 avec plusieurs autres pilotes. Le 17 janvier 1945, vers 13 h 15, le lieutenant Carr décolla de A-61 pour retourner à sa base d'origine. Selon l'officier de contrôle aérien de A-61, il reçut un appel téléphonique de la police militaire à 13 h 25 indiquant qu'un avion s'était écrasé près de Saint-Pierre. Des policiers militaires et une ambulance ont été immédiatement dépêchés sur place et ont découvert que l'avion s'était écrasé à Maisoncelle, Saint-Pierre, à environ 5 miles au nord-est de l'A-61 et que « le pilote avait été tué sur le coup et l'avion était une épave totale ».
