At approximately 14.45 hrs F/Sgt Price observed Capt Kaufman’s aircraft who was flying N°1 Blue Section to burn from the starboard side of the engine. The aircraft went into a shallowdive for about 15 seconds during which time the starboard wheel and D door flew off. The flames banked violently to the left and the nose dropped, the aircraft then assumed its normal course in a vertical dive dropped about 2.000 feet then pulled out very slightly and then crashed downwards at an angle of about 70°. Vers 14h45, le Sgt Price a observé l'avion du Capitaine Kaufman, qui pilotait la 1re Section bleue, prendre feu du côté tribord du moteur. L'avion a effectué un piqué superficiel pendant environ 15 secondes, au cours duquel la roue droite et la trappe D ont été emportées. Les flammes ont violemment basculé vers la gauche et le nez a piqué. L'avion a ensuite repris sa route normale en piqué vertical, a chuté d'environ 2 000 pieds, puis a légèrement reculé avant de s'écraser vers le bas à un angle d'environ 70°. L'avion est tombé parmi les arbres près de St-Jouin. Référence cartographique : vU289705.
