Rapport d’accident: - (On 14 July 1944 at approximately 2130, 2Lt William H Harrison was take off from ALG #A-1 in a P-47D type aircraft #42-75211. Just after starting his take off roll, the canopy came open, striking the pilot on the head causing a temporary loss of consciousness. The plane ran off the runway and jumped an embankment before the pilot realized what was happening. At this point, he tried to jerk the plane off but the ship then struck a tree, tearing the left wing completely off and flipping the plane over on its back. the plane then caught fire but was finally extinguished. The pilot managed to get out, but not without suffering severe burns on the arms and legs. Juste après avoir entamé son atterrissage, la verrière s'est ouverte, frappant le pilote à la tête provoquant une perte de conscience temporaire. L'avion a quitté la piste et a sauté un talus avant que le pilote ne se rende compte de ce qui se passait. À ce stade, il a essayé de secouer l'avion, mais l'avion a ensuite heurté un arbre, arrachant complètement l'aile gauche et se renversant sur le dos. Il a ensuite pris feu mais a finalement été éteint. Le pilote a réussi à s'en sortir, non sans subir de graves brûlures aux bras et aux jambes. Après enquête, le Bureau constate que l'accident est dû au fait que la verrière n'était pas complètement verrouillée avant le décollage.
