Photo de l'épave du 43-34157 ICI Extrait du rapport du pilote (source: Accident Report - AFHRA): After circling the area that was clear for over an hour searching for an airfield our gas supply ran low. We decided tyo land the plane in an open field instead of bailing out. I picked out a green field that looked like a pasture and was about 3/4 of a mile long and dragged it at 25 feet. We looked all right so, I put the crew in ditching position with cushions and parachutes for crash landing. I put the wheels and flaps down and made a long, low approach at 140 mph. About 3 feet above the ground we were at 110 mph and Lt Curtis, my co-pilot feathered the props and cut the switches. The ring wing stalled outand the right wheel hit first and broke off. The wing tip hit next and bent up. The nose wheel broke off when it was hit ans the ship skidded to a stop, turning 90° to the right. |
