Photo tombe Lt Bentley sur fr.findagrave.com Rapport du Lt Ferguson (transmis par Jean-Claude Clouet): While on a dive-bombing mission on the 13th of june 1944, Yellow flight broke off to the right from the squadron and attacked a train at Alençon,France. I was flying number four position in Yellow flight. As we started down, Yellow leader Lt Bentley, made a sharp 180° to the right and I crossed over on his right side. Yellow leader released his bombs around 500 feet. One of the bombs hit the top of a boxcar and Yellow leader was caught in the blasts. Apparently the plane went completely out of control and slid off on its right wing into a bank on the right side of the railroad and exploded on hitting the ground. |
