Approached field (A-69) on instruments as directed by IX Bombardment Division on Channel "D" of V.H.F. set. I broke through the overcast to the right of the field at approximately 150 feet with very poor visibility dur to rain and low clouds. The control at the field were firing flares for me at the end of runway 25. I attempted to line up with runway 25 on three different approach but was unable to land because of the poor visibility. I couldn't see the flares until I was right upon the field. On the fourth approach the co-pilote motioned me over to the right and I saw the runway. I cut my throttle back and lowered the wheels. We started down and when the flare out began the ship "stalled out" high due to the weight of the bombs still in the aircraft. The right tire "blew out" and the ship started skidding down the runway because it was running at the time. I was unable to keep the ship on the runway and it skidded off the right side of the strip into a ditch. The ditch caused the ship to stop with a jolt and caused most damage to the aircraft.

J'ai percé le ciel couvert à droite du champ à environ 150 pieds avec une très mauvaise visibilité en cas de pluie et de nuages ??bas. Les contrôles sur le terrain ont déclenché des fusées éclairantes à la fin de la piste 25. J’ai tenté de s’aligner sur la piste 25 selon trois approches différentes, mais j’ai été incapable d’atterrir à cause de la mauvaise visibilité. Je ne pouvais pas voir les fusées éclairantes avant d'être sur le terrain. À la quatrième approche, le copilote m'a fait signe de se diriger vers la droite et j'ai vu la piste. Je coupai les gaz et baissai les roues. Nous avons commencé à descendre et lorsque la fusée éclairante a commencé, le navire a décroché à cause du poids des bombes encore dans l'avion. Le pneu droit a "crevé" et le navire a commencé à déraper sur la piste parce qu'il roulait à ce moment-là. Je ne pouvais pas garder le bateau sur la piste et il a dérapé du côté droit de la bande dans un fossé. Le fossé a provoqué l’arrêt brutal du navire et a causé le plus de dégâts à l’avion.)
