Traduction d’un extrait du rapport du 2Lt W J Roberson - (We arrived in the target area approximately 1400; I was White three and Lt Black White four. We circled between 8,200 and 9,500 feet altitude searching for a target of opportunity for our bombs. White Leader had proceeded to a low altitude alone in order to observe and called on the radio for the remainder of the flight to bomb from not lower than 4,000 feet indicated altitude because mountainous terrain and hills hidden by clouds. Spying a rail-road track and junction through a large hole in the clouds and commenced a dive of approximately 60 degrees from 8,500 ft releasing my bombs about 4,500 ft. I pulled back up into the low hangin clouds, flying needle, ball and airspeed until breaking into an open space at about 6,000 ft. At no time during the process of finding or bombing this target did I use or hear Lt Black use the radio. Although, while climbing through the overcast in formation shortly after setting course from the field Lt Black asked the flight leader to increase his airspeed. That I heard clearly. Upon reaching 8,500 ft again; waited for the appearance of Lt Black and Lt Kilfoyle who bombed behind me in that order. Lt Black did not appear whoch caused no apprehension at the moment as I had seen no ground fire. I called him three or four time. We were using "B" channel but I heard no answer. Lt Kilfoye later stated that as he commenced his dive behind Lt Black and myself, he could see both of us on our way down. J'ai espionné une voie ferrée et une jonction à travers un grand trou dans les nuages et j'ai commencé une plongée d'environ 60 degrés à partir de 8 500 pieds en libérant mes bombes à environ 4 500 pieds. pénétrant dans un espace ouvert à environ 6 000 pieds. À aucun moment pendant le processus de recherche ou de bombardement de cette cible, j'ai utilisé ou entendu le lieutenant Black utiliser la radio. Cependant, alors qu'il grimpait dans le ciel couvert en formation peu de temps après avoir quitté le terrain, le lieutenant Black a demandé au chef de vol d'augmenter sa vitesse anémométrique. Que j'ai entendu clairement. En atteignant à nouveau 8 500 pieds; attendu l'apparition du Lt Black et du Lt Kilfoyle qui ont bombardé derrière moi dans cet ordre. Le Lt Black n'est pas apparu, ce qui n'a causé aucune appréhension pour le moment car je n'avais vu aucun tir au sol. Je l'ai appelé trois ou quatre fois. Nous utilisions le canal "B" mais je n'ai entendu aucune réponse. Le Lt Kilfoye a déclaré plus tard qu'en commençant sa plongée derrière le Lt Black et moi-même, il pouvait nous voir tous les deux en descendant.
