Rapport (1Lt Clark) - (I was leading a flight of 4 airplanes with Lt Shepherd flying No.2 position. We were about 10 miles east of Falaise at 6,000 feet when Lt. Sheperd called in 2 trucks on the road below. I did not see the trucks, so I told Lt. Shepherd to take over and lead us down to them. I came around and followed my No. 4 man down with Lt. Shepherd leading the way. I saw that they were Red Cross trucks, so I called the flight to pull up and rejoin. Upon rejoining I noticed that there was only three men in my flight. I proceeded to have the flight check in, but received no answer from Lt. Shepherd. I called repeatedly and continued circling over the area. Je dirigeais une patrouille de 4 avions, avec le Lt Shepherd occupant la position de N° 2. Nous nous trouvions à environ 10 miles à l'est de Falaise, à une altitude de 6 000 pieds, lorsque le Lt Shepherd a signalé deux camions sur la route en contrebas. Ne les voyant pas, j'ai demandé au Lt Shepherd de prendre la tête et de nous guider vers eux. J'ai viré de bord et suivi mon N° 4 dans la descente, derrière le Lt Shepherd qui ouvrait la marche. J'ai alors constaté qu'il s'agissait de camions de la Croix-Rouge ; j'ai donc ordonné à la patrouille de remonter et de se reformer. Une fois le regroupement effectué, j'ai remarqué qu'il ne restait que trois avions dans ma formation. J'ai demandé à chacun de se signaler, mais je n'ai reçu aucune réponse du Lt Shepherd. J'ai appelé à plusieurs reprises tout en continuant à survoler la zone en cercles, sans toutefois obtenir de réponse ni apercevoir le moindre signe de crash.
