Rapport : - (On 21 October 1944, while ferrying an aircraft from A-64 to A-80, Lt D W Hedberg arrived at A-80 at 1800 hours, came in down wind, slow pattern. Radio contact could not be established while making his last turn at an altitude of approximately 200 feet, apparently his engine quit and the aircraft stalled and spun. […] In addition it has been determined that Lt Hedberg was airborne only 27 minutes, which was not long enough to have consumed all the gas the gauges indicated had been used, however, it is possible that Lt Hedberg took off without a full load of gas. This cannot be determined. Le contact radio fut impossible lors de son dernier virage à une altitude d'environ 60 mètres (200 pieds). Apparemment, son moteur s'arrêta, l'avion décrocha et partit en vrille. […] De plus, il a été établi que le lieutenant Hedberg n'était resté en vol que 27 minutes, durée insuffisante pour avoir consommé tout le carburant indiqué par les jauges. Toutefois, il est possible qu'il ait décollé avec un réservoir incomplet. Cela ne peut être déterminé.
