The statement of the witnesses seen to agree that the pilot was veering off to the right on take-off. Immediately after he became airborne he hit a pile of rock on the side of the runway under construction. As a result, reasons inknown, the 500 pound bomb and the belly-tank exploded almost instantaneously, killing the pilot and completely wrecking the aircraft.
