The operation was very successful, the weather being favorable. "L" (F/O Gingles) returned early, ording to engine failure. "V" 'F/O D H Cheney) did not return, returning crews reported that the aircraft was seen to be shot down, and six members of the crew abandoning by parachute. A fighter command report confirmed this. The weather at base was drizzle at first, slight fog, becoming fine. Visibility was good. The members of the missing crew are shown in the summary.
