Rapport de perte K.256 du LW635 - (1. The Halifax took off from Lissett at 2221 hours and bombed the target about 0100 hours from 14/15,000 ft. The outward journey was made in bright moonlight without incident, and although numerous combats and feeling aircraft were observed after leaving Trappes, K/153 was not attacked.
2. The aircraft reached Hauville, flying straight and level, at between 8/10,000 feet, when it was hit in the nose without warning. Informant was knocked out of his turret, losing his flying boots, and his intercomm. became disconnected. He was hit in the leg by a flying fragment. As he regained his feet the flight engineer pushed past him carrying his parachute. Informant assumed that he had been given the order to bale out, so he took his parachute and followed the flight engineer to the rear exit.
3. The aircraft appeared to be diving steeply as informant made his way aft, and he found some difficulty in reaching the exit. This was open, but had not been fastened back. Informant fixed the door and baled out. He remembered nothing until he had almost reached the ground, but he had apparently opened his parachute automatically. He saw water below him, but landed in a nearby tree. He climbed down, pulling his parachute with him. On reaching the ground he found that his clothes were badly torn.
4. Informant did not see the aircraft crash, nor did he see the flight engineer again.
5. He received a letter from French sources which stated that aircraft LW.635 had crashed. The Germans found 5 bodies in or near the aircraft, and these were buried at Bosc Roger, between Elbeuf and Bourgtheroulde. One member of the crew was thought to have been taken prisoner. Informant was not certain until he was interrogated that the serial number of his aircraft was in fact LW.635.

Rapport Sgt Divers: - (We took off from Lissett at 2230 hrs on 2 Jun 44 in a Halifax aircraft on a bombing mission to Trappes. On the way home we were hit by flak and I baled out.
I landed early on 3 Jun at Le Landin (L 9713). I hid my parachute and harness in a ditch and was walking away when a woman came to me and took me to her house, where I was given food and shelter for the night.
Next day (4 Jun) I was taken to another house and given civilian clothes. After being given the clothes I was sent to another house in the same area. The remainder of my experiences are related in a report made by P/O Riding (S/P.G. 2199).
